Mustahab and supererogatory Salaah

ASALATU WASALAMU ALAYKA YA RASULLALLAH

Tahajjud Namaz:

It is greatest in the rank of all the supererogatory (naf'l) namaz, to be performed in the last part of night. After having gone to bed one should rise late in the night and engage in this wonderful worship (ibadat). It consists of four to twelve (4-12) rakaats of naf'l namaz in two or four rakaats units.

Issue: Tahajjud namaz is the most mustahab Sunnat and best among all mustahab namazes. Al religious books including our Quran support this fact. Though it is not a Sunnat-E muakkadah namaz, one who misses it, remains devoid of great virtues and excellence. However, skipper of Tahajjud namaz is not a sinner.

(Fatava Razaviyyah-III/454)

Issue: In the beginning, the Tahajjud namaz was farz on Huzoor-E Aqdas Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam and on his followers, but later on this farz duty was abolished by consensus of the Ummat. A hadees is quoted here in support of this issue.

Ummul-Mo'mineen Hazrat Ayeshah Radi Allah Anha has narrated that:

Namaz-E Tahajjud was farz for Huzoor-E Aqdas Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam and Sunnat for his followers.

(Fatava Razaviyyah-III/455, 456)

Salatul Ishraq:

It comprises of two rakaats naf'l namaz. The permissible time for Salatul Ishraq starts 20 minutes after sunrise.

Hadees Shareef:

Imam Tirmizee Rehmatullah Alaih has recorded a narration ascribing to Hazrat Anas Radi Allah Anhu that Huzoor-E Aqdas Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam has stated that:

He who performs Fajr namaz with jamaat and remains seated in the same place engaging in zikr'-e ilahee until after sunrise and there after performs two rakaats naf'l namaz, will obtain the savab of one Hajj and one Umrah.

(Bahar-E Shariat-IV-21)

Namaz-E Chasht:

Namaz-E Chasht comprises of 2 to 12 rakaats of naf'l namaz. Time starts from 20 minutes after sunrise and lasts up to nisf-un-nahar. It is mustahab to offer Namaz-E Chasht in first ¼ part of the day.

Hadees Shareef:

Imam Tirmizee Rehmatullah Alaih and Ibn-E Majah Rehmatullah Alaih have recorded this hadees ascribing to Hazrat Anas Radi Allah Anhu that Huzoor-E Aqdas Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam has narrated that:

Allah Azzowajal will build a golden palace in paradise for those who perform 12 rakaats namaz-e Chasht.

Salatul Auvabeen:

Six rakaats supererogatory (naf'l) namaz to be performed after Namaz-E Maghrib in three sets of two rakaats each.

Hadees Shareef:

Whatsoever the sins are, all (even if they are equal to foam of sea) will be forgiven who perform six rakaats namaz of Salat-Ul Auvabeen after Namaz-E Maghrib.
